I am hoping to grow as a writer, satisfy my curiosity about the impossible feats that Esther performs with fickle, edible materials, and learn how one woman can satisfy the demands of hundreds of brides, expecting mothers, grooms and everyone in between.

The Cakemaker is a blog expected to give readers and enthusiasts and bakery-interested folk a peek into the life and business of Esther Allen.

Esther is going to be an interesting person to shadow because of her wonderful personality and passion for what she does. Her energy is remarkable and so is her attention to detail.

Esther’s specialties of sugar art and the finest fondant you’ll ever sink your teeth into also mean that I will have to watch what makes it into my mouth but it certainly won’t stop me from taking tons of notes and even try to create something on my own, at home, with my currently bare utensils drawer.

The opportunity to write a blog like this is kind of a dream come true for a business-journalism major obsessed with food shows and most other creative outlets; a small business, baking, that needs a blog?! A perfect fit.

As we progress I hope to add video (even some instructional), of course plenty of pictures, and some guest appearances by Esther herself.
